This close up of a special dream flute honors an old teacher of mine. The head of the flute features a wolf with a Bone carving of a lighting strike issuing from his mouth which you blow through followed by a Pliated Wood Pecker saddle and Peyote bead stitch wrap.

The eagle on the opposite end honors Wambli. His head is inlaid silver with turquoise crushed stone. A carved wooden turtle sits atop the flutes back which is an honoring for the Earth Mother.

This flute in progress is called "Kokopelli Rides The Peyote Water Bird". Carved of White Cedar from a lightning strike in the Mohoosuc mountains of the White Mountain National Forest in Maine.

The other end or "foot" of the Water Bird Flute is the Water Birds head. His wings flow back into the body of the flute along the playing holes. very ornate carving is involved in these flutes which takes a very long time to complete. The sanding takes even longer!
